School Board

The ISD Board of Trustees is made up of 9 voting members. The Board is the governing body of the school as authorized by the International School Association of Dakar, comprised of parents of registered students, all faculty and the Director.

In addition to these 9 voting members, there is 1 ex officio member of the Board: the Representative of the U.S. Ambassador. The ISD Director, principals, faculty representative and PTO president serve as non-voting members of the Board.

The ISD Board of Trustees is responsible for advancing ISD's mission as effectively as possible, developing policy, and ensuring sound financial stewardship of the school. The Board helps to ensure the school's well-being, both now and for future students and families. The Board focuses on big-picture, strategic issues and we collaborate with and support administrators who are responsible for day-to-day school business and affairs. The term of office for elected Board Trustees is two years and elections are held in April, at the Annual General Meeting of Association members.

The Board accomplishes its work through committees. Board members chair three standing committees (Policy, Buildings and Grounds, and Finance) and other ad-hoc committees are created for specific, time-bound purposes.
