Student Council

Leadership and learning are indispensable to each other
John F. Kennedy

The ISD Student Councils are comprised of a group of devoted, proactive and responsible students at each level of school. The students who make up the Student Council are the community leaders, the initiators, and the assertive voice of the student body. The Student Councils represent their peers at faculty meetings, encourage their peers to make good choices, and provide bountiful fun and interesting activities for their peers throughout the school year. Officers and Representatives are nominated and elected during the month of September, and they are expected to remain in exemplary academic standing during the year-long term.

Some of the activities the Student Council have hosted in past include: Elementary School Lock-IN, Movie Nights, Dances/Parties, Bonfire/Cook-outs, Study Sessions, Big Brother – Big Sister Program, Athletic Tournaments, and a wide variety of fundraisers for different service initiatives. They are an active bunch, and with their creativity, talents and positive energy, the Student Councils have implemented a lot of new, unique, and successful programs/events at ISD. All ISD students are invited to attend Student Council Meetings, participate in decision making and planning, and lend a helping hand during events. The more, the merrier!

2012 - 2013 Student Council Advisors are:

Elementary StuCo Adviser

Greg Ishmael and Joy Osundwa
Middle School StuCo Adviser Emily Grimes
High School StuCo Adviser Chris Zahrobsky
