Student Services

Food Services

Lunch is provided at a cost for the elementary school students through Club Atlantique. Students may also bring a packed lunch from home. Students order lunch a week in advance and the lunch is delivered to the area at the Pagoda.  A menu and order form may be found in the weekly school newsletter.  Middle and high school students have the option of ordering food individually each day at the Club Atlantique. Students must place their orders and pay via envelope from their Homeroom in the morning—they should not order at the window during our brief lunch period. Students are not permitted on the grounds of the Club Atlantique during school hours other than for swimming instruction.

Transport

ISD does not run school buses. Most students are brought to school by parents or drivers in private vehicles. Some who live close, will ride bicycles or walk to school.
The US Embassy runs its own bus service for Embassy employees. If you are an Embassy employee, please inquire with the Community Liaison Officer for information.

ISD does have two small buses which it uses for field trips and team excursions.

Health

ISD has a full time nurse on campus who can deal with the occasional skinned knee or sore throat. Her office is located near our early childhood learning center.
Parents are asked to keep children home if they have a fever or any known communicable disease. Children who have a fever should be kept home until they have been fever-free for 24 hours. The nurse cannot prescribe medicine or administer injections. She can recommend physicians in Dakar to families new to the city.

Counseling

ISD employs a licensed counselor who works with both Middle School and High School students. The counselor is a resource to students, parents and teachers; she provides academic guidance, emotional counseling, university and career counseling and consultation on developmental issues. The counselor’s office is located near the high school.
