Community Engagement & Service Learning

Since 2000, community engagement  & service learning has been a cornerstone of the International School of Dakar's ethos. We believe in fostering strong connections with our local community, providing our students with enriching opportunities to learn about and appreciate the vibrant culture and diverse realities of Senegal.

Community Engagement

Through collaborative partnerships with various local associations, our students actively participate in initiatives that promote mutual understanding and shared growth.

These engagements range from cultural exchange programs to collaborative projects with local schools and organizations, allowing our students to develop empathy, build meaningful relationships, and gain firsthand insights into the unique context of Dakar.

We are committed to ensuring these interactions are reciprocal, fostering a sense of shared responsibility and enriching the educational experience for both our students and our community partners.

Service Learning

Our service learning program provides a powerful platform for students to apply their knowledge and skills to address real-world needs within our Dakar community.

By working alongside local associations on various academic initiatives, our students engage in meaningful projects that promote positive change.

These experiences go beyond traditional volunteering, encouraging students to critically reflect on their actions, understand the root causes of issues, and develop sustainable solutions in collaboration with community members.

From supporting educational programs to participating in environmental conservation efforts, our service learning activities cultivate essential skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork, while instilling a deep sense of civic responsibility and empowering our students to become active contributors to a more just and equitable society.
