WAISAL at ISD
The International School of Dakar is part of the WAISAL - Western African International Schools Activities League.
The purpose of the WAISAL is to provide a venue for students from member schools to compete or gather in an environment that is safe, challenging, professional and educational. Each student is given the opportunity to demonstrate their best ability while maintaining a spirit of respect and cooperation with fellow students from various international backgrounds.
“WAISAL is not just a sports tournament; it is a family where friendships and bonds are built by students, regardless of where they come from in the world. Stemming from sportsmanship, love, and respect, it provides a stage for students to showcase the hard work they have put in over their season. It may be just one weekend in the grand scheme of things, but it is truly an experience that lasts a lifetime.”

Each event involves students and adults in their different roles: these include student athletes or participants, chaperones, coaches and spectators. All those involved in the event are expected to uphold the same spirit of respect and cooperation. This spirit is demonstrated by fair play among athletes, positive encouragement from coaches, impartial judgments from officials and respectful enthusiasm from spectators.
