No Loan Colleges in the US

Colgate University sent out an announcement earlier this week that they will join the ranks of a handful of universities in the US that offer financial aid free of loans, meaning that their aid awards are pure grant money that must not be repaid. This news made us think we should share the complete list.

These schools offer no-loan financial aid:

Amherst College

Bowdoin College

Brown University

Colby College

College of the Ozarks

Columbia University

Davidson College

Harvard University

Haverford College

Pomona College

Princeton University

Stanford University

Swarthmore College

University of Pennsylvania

Vanderbilt University

Washington and Lee University

Yale University

And these schools offer no-loan packages only for low income students:

California Institute of Technology

Claremont McKenna College

College of the Holy Cross

Connecticut College

Cornell University

Dartmouth College

Duke University

Franklin and Marshall College

Emory University

Olin College

Grinnell College

Johns Hopkins University

Kenyon College

Lafayette College

Lehigh University

Massachusetts Institute of Technology

Northwestern University

Oberlin College

Rice University

Tufts University

University of Chicago

University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill

University of Virginia

Vassar College

Washington University in St. Louis

Wellesley College

Wesleyan College

Williams College

These lists are growing with each passing year, so be sure to check individual school websites. Also, the details change, for example, about whether their plans include non-US citizens. But if you are applying for financial aid, this is a great place to begin constructing your list!
