Welcome to the College Counseling Blog!
Welcome to the College Counseling blog at International School of Dakar! Through this medium, we are excited to share with you resources and guidance that might benefit you as parents, students, and our broader community. To be clear, as counselors, we will still be posting through the Jag Journal, but, as college counselors, we will post our resources and noteworthy information here so that we distinguish between what upper-level high school students and their parents need as part of the college process and what the rest of our community needs.
In our first post here, we wanted just to share a few quick comments about timeline. We begin formally meeting individually with ISD students during their junior year, although we provide programming and guidance on a case-by-case basis prior to that. If you think you would like to make an appointment with either Mr. Jeff Neill ("Mr. Jeff") or Mrs. Katelyn Kearney ("Ms. KK"), please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com.
We will be using Cialfo, a new software platform, to deliver most of our college counseling curriculum, and we will be in touch soon to provide some instructions on how parents and students can access this wonderful resource.
For now, we encourage students and parents to check back here regularly for posts intended to keep you up-to-date on what is going on in the world of university admissions across the globe! Additionally, we are working toward establishing connections with the broader college counseling and admissions communities as well as with our own students, alumni, and parents through social media. We are working to share a Facebook page, Twitter, and Instagram. Follow us there!
If you have any questions, we are intending to offer periodic programming for parents, and we have daily open office hours for students between 12-12:30pm when we are available in our offices in room 111 (more often than not).
We look forward to meeting you soon!
Ms. KK & Mr. Jeff
